Sunday, September 5 2010

The weather had taken a distinct downturn the past two days, so much so that when I left for my usual lunch at the Farmer's Market, I had to wear a shirt and socks.

I heated up a small tub of my own chili to bring along, so that I could have my own chili burgers. Yes, I was the only person to think of doing this.

I had planned a small barbecue this evening; just me and the girls, Flora and her two, and Jessalyn, Alexias' new schoolmate who is a vegetarian.

A simple meal, with corn and eggplant and sausages for starters.

Burgers and a salad.

Some local concord grapes.

Plus this kobe beef that Flora brought round and insisted I grill. Luckily, it turned out OK and I didn't totally ruin it. I also found out that the striploin from Price Chopper is half the price of that at Foody Mart, and about half as good too. So I guess that $ 4 a piece is the lowest I can go for steak.

FOOD COSTS:
Farmer's market burgers $ 10.00
Peppers $ 1.50
Sausages $ 3.99
Burgers $ 7.97 / 8 pieces
Veggie burgers $ 7.99 / 8 pieces
Eggplant $ 0.65
Striploin $ 7.74

Sunday totals $ 39.84
