Last night, Teresa sent me a recipe for chili beans that they had made in Hong Kong for the kids. So, inspired, I made my own version. I added diced carrots and celery to it, and used as the heat my ferocious home-made chili, being a little more cautious this time and only adding about a tablespoon of the stuff. While in the mood, I also made a couple of quiches, using this as a basic recipe, making a couple of adjustments and taking mental notes to see what would happen.

The quiche ...

The chili, with grated feta and finely chopped celery. It wasn't so red really.

FOOD COSTS
Ground beef $ 5.55
Onion $ 1.57
Feta $ 9.98
Kidney beans $ 1.99
French onion soup $ 1.99
Celery $ 1.99

Saturday total $ 23.07
